Open Circle

[…]today, when the mandala itself, the whole structure of meaning to which society and its guardians would attach us, is dissolving, what is required of as all, spiritually as well as corporeally, is much more the fearless self sufficiency of our shamanistic inheritance than the timorous piety of the priest-guided Neolitic. […] For the circle has been broken-the mandala of truth. The circle is open, and we are sailing on a sea more vast than that of Columbus.

Joseph Campbell,

The Flight of the Wild Gander.

The Highlands has been a home to remarkable spirits and individuals for hundreds of years. Walking the land and sailing the waters we follow steps of giants, kelpies, selkies, poets, artists witches and oculists amongst many others.

We believe that this unique place is still inhabited by such spirits and individuals and we invite you all to join us for inspirational conversation, transforming ritual, a meditative walk in a sacred place or many other activities we’re happy to engage in.

For there is, in fact, in quiet places, a great deal of deep spiritual quest and finding now in progress of this world, outside the sanctified social centres, beyond their purview and control: in small groups, here and there, and more often, more typically, by ones and twos, there entering the forest at those points which they themselves have chosen, where they see it to be most dark, and there is no beaten way or path.

Joseph Campbell,

The Flight of the Wild Gander.

We’re here to explore the rich traditions of magic and folklore and to share our experience and knowledge. We do so freely, without a dogma or hierarchy to bound us. If you come to meet us you will be welcomed with respect due to being a unique individual with your own story to tell. Feel free to join us regardless of your path and experience. You’re welcome as long as you are willing to exchange, collaborate and play in spirit of mutual respect and friendliness.

We can all be like Wild Ganders and partake of the Weird and Wonderful of the Gods.
